History & Location of School
University of British Columbia (UBC) is a Canadian public research university with two campuses in Vancouver and one in Kelowna, British Columbia. The originating legislation created UBC on March 7, 1908 although the first day of lectures was September 30, 1915. On September 22, 1925, lectures began on the Point Grey campus. UBC Robson Square is located in the heart of downtown Vancouver.
UBC Robson Square is a vibrant learning centre that brings unique UBC offerings to the growing downtown core and is accessible to learners throughout the Lower Mainland.
UBC Okanagan opened in September 2005 as a distinctive, small university campus. UBC Okanagan is earning a reputation as an important, respected centre of learning and research, enhancing knowledge creation and innovation in the Okanagan.

UBC was ranked as the fourth best university (Medical Doctoral Rankings) in Canada by Maclean’s Magazine in 2008. In 2006, Newsweek magazine ranked UBC second in Canada and 27th in the world.
